Funeral of murdered Laois man taking place today

The funeral of the Co Laois man found murdered at his home on Sunday night is taking place today.

The body of 55-year-old Pat Burke was discovered at his home in Ballybrittas.

A post-mortem revealed that he died of multiple blows to the head.

Gardaí confirmed yesterday that they had recovered a murder weapon in the house.

Mr Burke's wife, who was found injured in the house where one of their children also lived, is receiving medical treatment for her injuries.
