Dept urged to set up advice centre for Glanbia workers
Fine Gael is calling on the Department of Social Affairs to set up temporary offices in Edenderry to help staff affected by the huge fire at the Glanbia factory over the weekend.
Around 280 employees, including foreign nationals, have been out on protective notice following the massive blaze yesterday.
Local Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan says many of the migrant workers have little English and little knowledge of the Irish state support system.
He says the Department of Social Affairs and the Health Service Executive should both be offering advice in the locality to make people aware of their options.
