Jury's and Berkeley Court to close doors for last time

Two of Dublin's best-known hotels are due close their doors for the last time today.

Jury's Ballsbridge and the adjacent Berkeley Court have been bought by developer Sean Dunne for around €380m.

He plans to redevelop the site as hundreds of apartments, but Dublin City Council has already rejected his bid to get permission for a 32-storey tower block.

More than 600 staff will lose their jobs due to the closure of the two hotels, but they have already accepted a redundancy deal.
