Air search underway for vessel in distress off Galway coast
An air search is underway off the Co Galway coast after a distress signal was picked up this afternoon.
The EPERB beacon, which boats use in case they get into difficulty, has been located west of Slyne Head near Clifden.
A coastguard spokesman said that two helicopters were launched after the signal was picked up at 3.30pm.
They are travelling to the scene - 30 miles off Slyne Head - to find out what's happened.
