Coughlan to meet on foot-and-mouth tomorrow
Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan announced tonight that she will convene another meeting of the management committee of her department’s National Disease Control Centre in Dublin tomorrow.
Coughlan assured farmers and the general public that they will be kept fully informed of the developing foot-and-mouth situation and the consequences of any control measures introduced.
A FMD Helpline (1890 252 283) has been set up and public information notices will be published in tomorrow’s national newspapers.
“The minister also urged farmers to check their animals for any clinical signs of disease and to continue to exercise the highest standards of on-farm biosecurity,” a spokesman said.
