Pilot confirmed dead in Co Kerry plane crash

The pilot of a light aircraft which crashed in north Co Kerry earlier has died.

The man in his 50s was the sole occupant of the plane, which came down in a field between Ardfert and Causeway at about 4.30pm.

The craft was taking part in an exhibition flight as part of a local festival when it crashed.

Officials from the Air Accident Investigation Unit are travelling to the scene to begin an investigation.
