Garda regrets not speaking out over 'harassment'

A garda sergeant stationed in Donegal in the late 1990s today told a tribunal she regrets not speaking-out about an alleged campaign of harassment levied at a local publican by senior officers.

Sgt Sarah Hargadon, who was transferred from Letterkenny to Raphoe in June 1997, told the Morris Tribunal she believed garda management ordered officers to put pressure for information on nightclub owner Frank McBrearty Senior, whose son Frank Junior they wrongly thought responsible for the death of local cattle dealer Richie Barron.
