Three injured in Galway car crash

A man and a woman are fighting for their lives after a car crash in north Galway.

The collision, between a car and a truck, happened on a small country road near Newbridge, shortly after 1pm this afternoon.

The injured couple were rushed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, where they are both reported to be in a critical condition.

The driver of the truck has been taken to Roscommon County Hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardaí are carrying out a technical examination of the scene.
