Driver, 18, dies after car hits tree

An 18-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving hit a tree in Co Galway, garda said today.

An 18-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving hit a tree in Co Galway, gardaí said today.

The crash happened shortly before 6am at Clonbrock, on the Ahascragh to Caltra road, in the east of the county.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí from Ballinasloe Garda station are investigating a single vehicle fatal road collision which happened shortly before 6am this morning.

“The 18-year-old male driver of a car was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and hit a tree.”

The man’s body was taken to hospital in Ballinasloe.
