Fermoy: Mother and son died by drowning
Preliminary post-mortem results on the bodies of a mother and son recovered from a river in Co Cork yesterday have shown that they died by drowning.
Gardaí have said they are not treating the deaths of the 33-year-old woman and her nine-month-old son as suspicious.
The two were recovered the Araglin river in north Cork yesterday, and were taken to Cork University Hospital.
They were last seen by relatives at around 9.30am.
Deputy State Pathologist Margaret Bolster carried out post mortems on the bodies last night.
