Medical device company to bring 150 jobs to Athlone

Medical device company Teleflex is to establish its European headquarters at the IDA Business and Technology Park in Athlone, Co Westmeath, bringing 150 jobs to the area.

The jobs will be in areas such as multilingual customer service, finance, HR, IT, planning and administration.

US-based Teleflex designs, manufactures and markets medical devices and employs more than 7,000 people worldwide. The company already has a manufacturing operation in Limerick since 1983.

Teleflex Medical president Ernest Waaser said: "The availability of highly educated graduates with strong language skills and proximity to the Athlone Institute of Technology were some of the reasons why we chose Athlone. We look forward to doing business here for years to come."
