Dublin conference discusses human trafficking

Around 100,000 people in Europe are trafficked every year, a conference in Dublin heard this week.

The event, organised to mark the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slave trade, heard that tighter border controls and closer co-operation between police forces are needed to combat the problem.

There is increasing evidence that Eastern European women and children are being trafficked to Ireland for the purposes of sexual and labour exploitation.
