Taoiseach: Cork drugs haul worth more than €100m

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has confirmed in the Dáil that yesterday's drugs seizure off the Mizen Head peninsula in Cork was worth well in excess of €100m.

“It is too early to draw conclusions about the source of the drugs or their intended destination but that will come out in the investigations,” he said.

“It is clear from the events of yesterday that remote inlets are also clearly a target for smugglers.”
