Prisons food bill tops €6m a year

Porridge used to be the staple diet of prisoners but lavish menus will now cost more than €6m a year, it emerged today.

Inmates will enjoy a diet of meat, fish, bread, dairy products, fruit and vegetables and frozen foods.
