Harney supports resumption of consultant talks

The Minister for Health has said that she supports the proposal to resume consultant contact negotiations.

In a statement this afternoon, Mary Harney said she is backing proposals from the independent chairman of the negotiations.

Mark Connaughton is recommending bilateral talks should begin immediately, progressing to full plenary sessions in the future.

Minister Harney said the proposals offer the prospect of bringing the talks to a successful conclusion by the early Autumn.
