Two men have been questioned by gardaí in Limerick after a massive search operation in the city last night resulted in the seizure of high powered weapons in the Moyross area.

The two men are in their 20's and 40's.

Both have been detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and can be held for up to 72 hours without charge.

Fifty gardaí were involved in the search of 53 houses in Pineview gardens which finished at 8pm last night.

The operation was a reaction to the feud-related violence which has erupted in Moyross in recent nights.

On Wednesday, a man received a stab wound to the neck and firebombs were thrown at houses in Pineview on Thursday night.

The incidents continued with number of shootings around midnight on Friday.

Garda investigations into the violence are continuing.
