Armed robber mistakenly released from Mountjoy jail

Gardaí are searching for a prisoner who was released by mistake from Mountjoy jail on Wednesday.

Thirty-five-year-old Mark Kenny, from Ballyfermot in Dublin, was not due to be set free until 2010.

However, the convicted armed robber released after being mistaken for another prisoner of the same name who was due to be released after serving his time for road traffic offences.

Gardai have so far been unable to track down Mr Kenny, while the Prison Service has also launched an investigation into the blunder.
