Five people have been arrested following a row with gardaí in Tipperary town last night.

Five people have been arrested following a row with gardaí in Tipperary town last night.

Two gardaí were treated in hospital for minor injuries after the fracas outside a nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

One man jumped onto the roof of the garda patrol car and a group of about 200 people spilled out from the nightclub onto the street.

They shouted abuse at gardaí and threw missiles.

Two members of the Force were admitted to South Tipperary general hospital where they were treated for injuries before being released.

Five people were arrested in relation to the incident and are due to appear at a sitting of Tipperary District court in July.

A file has been sent to the DPP.
