Cigarettes worth more than €60,000 have been seized at Rosslare Europort, customs officials have confirmed.

Cigarettes worth more than €60,000 have been seized at Rosslare Europort, customs officials have confirmed.

More than 173,000 Marlboro brand cigarettes were found last night in a false compartment of a trailer following a customs sweep.

They were brought from Poland and had arrived in Ireland by car-ferry via Cherbourg, France.

A 48-year old Polish man was released after questioning.
