Kerry teen awaits sentencing on sexual assault charges

A Kerry teenager who sexually assaulted two women and threatened to kill one of them in 2006 will be sentenced next December by Mr Justice Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court.

William Taylor (aged 18), of Fieries, Farranfore pleaded guilty to three charges in relation to one victim and to one charge in relation to the second woman.

Taylor admitted sexually assaulting a woman on July 30, 2006 in circumstances involving serious violence.

He also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the second victim on September 24, 2006 in circumstances involving serious violence, to aggravated sexual assault of her while using a knife and to threatening to kill her on the same occasion.

Mr Justice Carney agreed with the application of defence counsel, Mr Anthony Sammon SC (with Mr John O'Sullivan BL, instructed by Mr Padraig O'Connell, solicitor) for a long remand on bail so that psychiatric and psychological reports could be prepared on Taylor.

Mr Justice Carney who also directed the registration of Taylor as a sexual offender and the preparation of victim impact reports for the sentence hearing, said he wanted it noted that the remand on bail was with the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court was told that Taylor's bail conditions included a strict curfew.
