Offaly Gardaí 'were alerted about loose Rotweillers'

Neighbours of the young boy attacked by two Rotweillers in Co Offaly during the weekend had reportedly called to the Gardaí to deal with the dogs an hour before the incident.

Seven-year-old Jordan Denn is recovering in hospital today after being savaged by the dogs in Edenderry on Saturday night.

The animals had escaped from the garden of their owner's home.

Reports this morning say neighbours had alerted gardaí about the dogs an hour before the child was bitten.

The gardaí sent a patrol car and then left to locate a dog warden, but did not alert residents to the fact that the Rotweillers were roaming free.
