Amnesty Ireland marks 40 years of Israeli occupation
The Irish branch Amnesty International is holding an event in Dublin this afternoon to mark the 40th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
One hundred white balloons will be released into the sky, while a mock wall patrolled by soldiers will also be constructed on South King Street.
The campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the ongoing occupation and Israeli human rights violations against Palestinians.
Amnesty Ireland will be asking people to sign postcards addressed to Israeli public figures calling for an immediate end to restrictions of movement imposed by the Israeli Government.
