Derry Airport reopens
The City of Derry Airport has officially re-opened for business after it was closed down by the authorities last week due to safety fears.
The facility was shut down by Britain's Civil Aviation Authority last Thursday night after inspectors found unsatisfactory repairs to a parking area for planes and a lack of an effective bird control plan.
Work was carried out over the weekend and, following an additional inspection, the airport has been given the go-ahead to re-open this morning.
Meanwhile, the new Area 14 section of Dublin Airport is also coming into operation following the resolution of a dispute between management and baggage handlers.
