Second Laois-Offaly count fails to elect a second candidate
The second count in Laois-Offaly has failed to elect another candidate.
Brian Cowen's surplus of over 7,000 votes was re-distributed, pushing Fianna Fáil's John Foley to within a hundred votes of his party colleague John Moloney.
Tom Parlon stands at 4,800 votes, having picked up just over 500 transfers - well below the tally prediction.
The votes of Colm Callanan, Noel O'Gara, Joe McCormack and David Whelan will now be redistributed but these won't push anyone over the quota.
It now looks likely to be the fourth or fifth count before another seat is filled.
