O'Dea sweeps board in Limerick East
Out-going Minister of Defence Willie O'Dea has polled more than double the number of votes he needed to be elected on the first count in Limerick East.
The quota was 8,230. Fianna Fáil's Mr O'Dea polled a stunning 19,082 and is therefore re-elected.
He was the only candidate in the constituency to exceed the quota on the first count.
Fine Gael's Michael Noonan polled 7,057 votes, while Progressive Democrat Tim O'Malley received 3,354 votes.
Labour's Jan O'Sullivan gained 5,098 votes.
Almost 65% of eligible voters cast a vote in the constituency.
