Petrol prices rise to highest level in a year

Petrol prices have hit their highest level in almost a year, according to the latest nationwide survey by the AA.

The association says the average price of a litre of unleaded is now just under €1.16, an increase of almost five cents over the past month.

Diesel prices have also gone up from almost €1.07 to €1.09.

The AA is warning motorists to expect further rises in the coming months.
