Gardaí appeal for witnesses to Dublin stabbing
Gardaí are appealing to the public for information following, what they are calling, a very serious assault in Dublin's south inner city last night.
A woman in her 20s has undergone seven hours of surgery at Saint James Hospital after being stabbed a number of times on Lourdes Road near Cork Street early this morning.
Detectives say the attack happened between 2.30 and 3.15am.
The victim was wearing a grey skirt, dark top, brown boots and a cream/brown check jacket.
Detective superintendent PJ Brown said this afternoon that they have no idea what the motive for the attack was and need to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.
