Sinn Féin says PSNI was heavy-handed in republican arrest

Sinn Féin has accused the PSNI of heavy handedness, following the arrest of a top republican during an operation into alleged organised crime.

Brian Arthurs was detained by officers who raided addresses in Co Armagh and Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

Sinn Féin's policing spokesman, Alex Maskey, has accused the PSNI of mounting a heavy-handed arrest operation.

He says six police land rovers, a van and four unmarked cars arrived at the home of Tyrone republican Brian Arthurs, and he was forcibly removed from the house.
