Man and woman dead after Dublin/Meath border crash

A man and woman have died following an accident on the N2 road between Finglas in Dublin and Ashbourne in Meath.

The accident happened at around 9am today and involved a truck and a car.

The male passenger in the lorry and the woman driving the car were killed when the vehicles collided.

The truck driver was taken to James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road is closed between the White House pub and Wards Cross, pending a forensic examination of the scene.

In a separate incident in Co Down, a man died following a crash in Mayobridge in the early hours of this morning.
