Shots fired at IRA funeral

A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a former Official IRA leader's funeral.

Police swooped after rounds were fired over the coffin of Johnny White, who died at the weekend in Derry.

The man was apprehended on suspicion of possessing and discharging a firearm in public.

The paramilitary-style funeral was held in the Creggan area at around 11.30am this morning.

A follow-up police operation is under way.

Mr White had been ill for some time. He was leader of the Official IRA at the time of the Bloody Sunday massacre in January 1972.
