A chronic drug addict who shot himself in the foot after robbing three money bags from a Brinks Allied van has been remanded in custody pending sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Garret Lynch (aged 25) of Spring Garden Street, Ballybough later called gardaí to say he had been shot by a motorcyclist in Buckingham Street but gardaí followed a trail of his blood to a basement flat where they found blood covered money bags.
