Body of missing man recovered in west Cork

The body of a man missing in West Cork since last Sunday has been found.

Garda search teams discovered the remains of Alan Lyons in Woodland outside Dunmanway just before midday.

Navy divers, the coastguard, the civil defence, gardaí and hundreds of volunteers were involved in the search for 25-year-old Alan Lyons.

The Tipperary man had been missing in the Coole mountain area of West Cork since last Sunday.

His remains have been removed to hospital where a post mortem will be carried out later.

This afternoon, gardaí said that they wished to thank everyone involved in the operation, especially the hundreds of volunteers who had travelled from around the country to West Cork to help in the search
