Ruling expected on Lawlor bid to delay tribunal

The widow of the late Liam Lawlor will find out this morning whether or not she has been successful in her bid to delay the Mahon Tribunal public hearings.

Hazel Lawlor of Somerton House in Lucan is seeking a stay on the hearings pending the outcome of a full judicial review.

Hazel Lawlor ultimately wants the court to restrain the planning tribunal from making findings of serious misconduct against her or her late husband unless proven beyond reasonable doubt.

But for now her lawyers want a stay on the Quarryvale II module, which is due to start next week, pending the outcome of a full judicial review.

She claims the tribunal's "vindictive and vengeful attitude" destroyed her life and that of her late husband and family.

Lawyers for the tribunal however argue that she does not have the legal standing to take this case because the only complaints she makes relate to historic events regarding her late husband, and they say there is no right to defend the reputation of a deceased person.
