Politicians weigh in for marathon debate
A marathon debate will take place on the streets of Cork next Monday in aid of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
Former Lord Mayor of Cork Deirdre Clune of Fine Gael, Green Party TD Dan Boyle and several other famous faces will be in attendance for a part of the debate.
The debate, organised by the UCC Philosophical Society, will take place in three city locations, as well as on the campus of UCC and will begin at 7pm.
The event will begin in G19 of the Kane building on UCC campus at 7pm, moving to Emmet Place at 10pm. It will then proceed to Daunt Square at 4am and continue on to the open area opposite Brown Thomas at 10am, before returning to UCC main campus at 4pm to close.
During the course of the debate, public collections in aid of the Alzheimer Society will be carried out.
The event has been entirely student organised and will be run as an open-ended forum for free speech.
The motion reads That this house would… and anyone is welcome to participate, with someone on hand at all times for people to submit their names to speak.
