McDowell defends massive spending on Garda overtime

Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has defended the cost of the Garda overtime, which reached €100m in 2006 alone.

Figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that one Dublin-based sergeant received more than €77,000 in overtime, bringing his total pay for the year to almost €130,000.
