Govt to announce compensation scheme for Neary victims

The Government is due to announce details today of a redress scheme for women who had their wombs or ovaries removed unnecessarily by Dr Michael Neary.

The Government is due to announce details today of a redress scheme for women who had their wombs or ovaries removed unnecessarily by Dr Michael Neary.

Dr Neary performed the surgery on up to 250 women at Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda over a 24-year period before being struck off the register in 2003.

The victims are set to receive compensation of between €60,000 and €360,000 depending on the circumstances of their cases.
