Naval crewman airlifted to safety from LE Roisín

A naval crewman has been airlifted to Cork University Hospital after suffering chest pains this afternoon.

He was working on the LE Roisin located 170 miles south of Mizen Head.

The emergency services were alerted at around 2pm and the operation was co-ordinated by Valentia Coastguard, using the Shannon Helicopter.

The man was landed at the hospital just after 5pm.
