Students demand greater govt action on reducing emissions
A large group of students has mounted a demonstration outside the Dáil to call for greater government action on climate change.
The rally was organised by the UCD Students Union in an effort to keep global warming on the agenda ahead of the upcoming general election.
The demonstrators want all parties to set out their plans for reducing Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions.
They also want the parties to commit themselves to a 3% reduction in emissions every year and an end to the reliance on carbon trading as Ireland's primary way of meeting Kyoto targets.
