FG attacks Government failure on class sizes

Fine Gael has today criticised Minister for Education Mary Hanafin for what it says is her "regurgitation of old promises" in relation to class sizes.

Hanafin this morning promised to hire more teachers to help reduce class sizes further in the coming years.

However, Fine Gael TD Olwyn Enright says this is no excuse for the Government's failure to meet its existing commitments.

She also wants the minister to outline how she intends to recruit extra teachers and to ensure they have the skills, training and professional development to meet the needs of pupils in the classroom.
