Hospital consultants set to reject latest HSE offer

Hospital consultants are reportedly set to reject the latest offer in their negotiations with the HSE.

Nurses are due to announce an escalation of their work-to-rule on Monday, with stoppages expected to start two days later.

Now it is being reported that the revised contracts, which are being negotiated with hospital consultants, are unlikely to be accepted.

Although a basic salary of up to €205,000 is believed to be on offer - about €20,000 more than the current rate - doctors' representatives have claimed that the additional hours and changes to working conditions could leave them worse off.

The Government has set a deadline of Tuesday, April 17 for the completion of negotiations but it seems this will not now be met.
