Students call for new Gaeltachts

The body representing third level students is calling for the establishment of new Gaeltachts.

The USI has claimed that new Gaeltachts should be created throughout the country as part of the overall 20-year development plan for the Irish language.

Delegates at the union's annual congress also want the Government to launch an in-depth consultation with the Irish-speaking community ahead of the introduction of any development plan.
