Former Circuit Court Judge Brian Curtin is reportedly receiving almost €20,000-a-year in pension payments from the State.

Reports this morning say the 54-year-old has also received a €57,000 lump sum after resigning from his position last November.

Mr Curtin resigned after failing in his attempt to block an Oireachtas inquiry aimed at removing him from the bench.

The inquiry was established following the judge's acquittal on charges of possessing child pornography due to a garda blunder.

This morning's reports say he is entitled to a reduced pension on grounds of ill health.
