Residents in Kilkenny had a frosty start to the mornings in March with a record number of ground frosts recorded in the city in 50 years, it emerged today.

Met Éireann's weather summary recorded 26 ground frosts during last month, while the mean minimum temperature was 1.9°C, its lowest for March since 1987.
