Six young men were killed in car crashes over the weekend, gardaí confirmed tonight.

Three people were killed in a two-car head-on crash on the N21 in Co Kerry this morning.

The collision happened on the Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road, about two miles on the Limerick side of Castleisland, at 10.35am.

A foreign national in his late 20s died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a lorry in Co Leitrim.

The dead man was taken to the morgue at Our Lady’s Hospital Manorhamilton after the collision around 4.45pm on the N16 at Cornastauk in the town.

A 31-year-old man died after the tractor he was driving overturned and struck a wall in Co Limerick yesterday.

An investigation has been launched into the accident at Ballynoe, Castletown, Kilmallock at around 3.40pm.

The dead man was taken to Mid Western Hospital where a post mortem examination was to be carried out.

Separately, a 26-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving collided with another vehicle in Co Tipperary.

The crash happened at around 9.50pm last night at Lismalin, Mullinahone.

Gardaí said the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
