The preliminary hearing into the death of student Brian Murphy outside the Burlington hotel almost seven years ago takes place at the Dublin City Coroners Court this morning.

Coroner to consider three reports into Brian Murphy death

The preliminary hearing into the death of student Brian Murphy outside the Burlington hotel almost seven years ago takes place at the Dublin City Coroners Court this morning.

Reports by three pathologists, Professor John Harbison, State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy and forensic pathologist Dr Derek Carson, who is based in the North, will be heard.

City Coroner Dr Brian Farrell will listen to the report's conclusions before deciding what medical evidence should be admitted before the inquest jury.

Mr Murphy died after he was kicked and beaten outside the Burlington's Club Anabel in south Dublin in August 2000.
