Crash disrupts traffic and LUAS in Dublin

A crash at the Red Cow roundabout on the outskirts of Dublin caused traffic delays in the area and disrupted LUAS Red Line services this morning, but the situation has since returned to normal.

Motorists in the east of the country are being urged to drive carefully today on any roads that are still being affected by fog.

A pile-up on the N3 at Dalgan Park in Co Meath has since been cleared.

Gardaí said two lorries and three cars were involved in this morning's crash near Navan.

Several people were hurt but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Yesterday, dozens of vehicles were involved in a string of pile-ups during foggy conditions on the M7 in Co Kildare, causing traffic chaos for much of the day.

Heavy fog also engulfed many areas in the east of the country this morning, prompting calls for motorists to drive slowly and keep their hazard lights on.

AA Roadwatch says the worst affected areas were the M7 at Naas, the N3 from Monaghan to Meath, the M50 in Lucan, the N1 to Newry and the A1 on to Belfast.

Most of the fog has since lifted, but motorists are still being advised to exercise extra caution.
