Elderly woman dies as car collides with van in Galway

An 81-year-old woman has died following a collision between a car and a van in Claregalway, Co Galway, last night.

The woman, who was a front-seat passenger in the car, suffered serious injuries in the crash just before 9pm and died a short time later at University College Hospital Galway.

The driver of the car and the front-seat passenger in the van were also taken to the same hospital for treatment, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
