Govt urged to provide defibrillators in all communities
The Government is being urged to provide the money needed for defibrillators to be made available in all communities across the country.
The call follows an initiative in Roosky, Co Roscommon, which saw 60 local people trained in the use of the resuscitation machines, which are stored on the streets of the village.
The local campaign group DARA says more than 8,000 people lost their lives last year because they were not near a hospital when they suffered a heart attack.
It says this figure could be significantly reduced if defibrillators were available in all communities.
