Man dies in Wexford crash

A man is dead following at a road accident in Co Wexford at about 1am today.

The 47-year-old was killed when his van hit a tree just before Spout Road in Clonroche.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the crash.

This latest accident brings to eight the number of people killed on our roads so far this Bank Holiday weekend.

A 79 year-old pedestrian was killed in a road accident in Co Cavan last night. The man was hit by a car at Munnilly in Cootehill shortly after 8pm.

He was rushed to Cavan Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
