Plans to reduce M50 chaos include barrier-free tolling

The Government today announced details of its multi-million-euro plan to reduce traffic congestion on the M50.

Commuters are being promised barrier-free tolling by August of next year, when a new system of charging will be put in place.

There will be one single point on the West Link area of the motorway, where cameras and antennae will detect car registrations.

Those without prepaid electronic tags will be sent bills by post.
